After a wait of four years, the National University of Study and Research in law (NUSRl) is all set to commence its 2014-15 session at permanent campus in Nagri from August 18 wherein office of the administration will start functioning by August 10.
The law cradle since its inception in 2010 has been carrying out the academic session at Birla Institute of Technology, Mesra Polytechnic Campus on temporary basis.
At present, despite the constant rainfall, non-teaching staffs accompanied by labourers, are busy shifting and managing the furniture and books from their BIT campus.
“Students have been asked to report here on August 17. Girls of all five undergraduate batches, llM and PhD will be accommodated in the girls’ hostel.
Construction of boys’ hostel is still pending so boys of only the first batch will be accommodated here. Remaining boys will continue their stay at Khelgaon hostel,” a source at the NUSRl said.
The cradle is in talks with a private security agency to deploy around 50 to 60 guards especially for the safety of girls. Including ground floor there are five floors in the hostel. Two cafeterias will be set up on each floor for the convenience of students.
“Tender for the cafeterias are not yet done. The mess located between girls and boys hostels will provide the meals,” added sources.
However, the muddy road within the campus is likely to create commuting problems for the students from their hostels especially in this monsoon.
A contractor said, “It will take time. Tender for putting black toppings over the road is not yet done. The work of putting toppings can be done only after the monsoon season is over.”
Entrance arena to the campus is also under-construction. “We hope construction of the entrance gate and road is completed by August 25,” a labourer pointed out.
According to the campus layout map of NUSRl at Nagri, six buildings for boys hostel and six buildings for girls hostel is to be made out of which only one block for boys and two for girls are constructed. Among three buildings for Academic area, only one building is made wherein there are five floors including 16 classrooms, Vice Chancellor (VC) chamber, library and other offices.
An official maintained that plantation inside the buildings and around the campus is also a priority for the university. Staff Quarters are to be constructed in the 33 acres land adjacent to the campus land.
The Pioneer in its report ‘NUSRl set to shift to Nagri Campus by mid Aug’ published on June 29 has mentioned that the university is trying to fasten the process of possession since February when Professor BC Nirmal was appointed the new VC.
