NTPC Coal Mining Projects has started promoting cooperatives in its cover area. In a policy decision the NTPC Coal Mining Projects has started giving works of social welfare and community development to the cooperatives formed by the family members of displaced villagers so that they can get employment and earn some money.
NTPC is also helping the displaced in forming cooperatives by giving them a help of Rs10,000 for the registration of their cooperative under Societies Registration Act. So far 31 cooperative societies have been formed in Barkagaon-Keredari area and NTPC Coal Mining Project has allotted them works like construction of roads, boundary walls and toilets in the schools, distribution of drinking water through tankers, running training centers of sewing and cutting etc.
PRO Gulshan Toppo has informed that on the direction of Executive Director of Coal Projects the cooperative societies are getting work orders according to their date of registration.
