On the occasion of the 76th Republic Day of the country, the Pakri Barwadih Coal Mining Project showcased a unique display of the strength of the project-affected villagers.
The project organized an exhibition at its Sikri site office, where handmade products like lac bangles, mushrooms, various spices, different types of soaps, and beautiful Sohrai paintings were sold through stalls. The stalls were run by people from the project-affected villages, proudly offering their products to employees and others. The project is providing both quality training and full financial support to these villagers, enabling them to produce handmade items such as soaps, spices, lac bangles, and Sohrai paintings, as well as cultivate mushrooms. This initiative is making the villagers more empowered and self-reliant, improving their livelihoods. With the support of the project, they will now be able to sell their products in nearby markets, allowing them to better support their families.
The event was attended by Faiz Taiyab, Project Head, and Tazeen Faiz, President of the Jagriti Mahila Sangh. Both appreciated the villagers for their dedication and hard work in learning production skills. Through this exhibition, a large number of employees made purchases and thanked the producers for their efforts.
Additionally, on the special occasion of Republic Day, electric tricycles were distributed to people with disabilities.
This initiative reflects the Pakri Barwadih project’s commitment to the social and economic development of the region, consistently working towards improving the living standards and empowerment of the local community.
