NPU VC talks tough on laxity in varsity examinations

Vice-Chancellor of Nilamber Pitamber University AN Ojha has directed all examination centre superintendents (ECS) of ongoing various examinations to ensure proper packing and sealing of written answer papers the same day  no matter if sealing of packets extend till night.

Speaking to The Pioneer Ojha said, “Under no circumstances, any written answer book is to be packed and sealed a day after the examination. It must be sealed on the same day by all means. Any flouting of this order will be severely met with.”

Sources said in one college located in Garhwa district there came a report of sealing of answer books a day after the examination. It raised many eyebrows. However, sources said nothing fishy was found in this regard. The sealing of packet was definitely done a day after the examination but it was all for a huge number of written answer books there.

VC Ojha inspected two colleges in Garhwa district late in the afternoon of Monday . DSW NPU AS Upadhaya accompanied the VC.

At SSJSN college Garhwa complaints were made against a teacher in the Sociology department. VC Ojha said ' I have directed the professor in charge of this college B Yadav to look into the complaint and if complaint is found true then a one day salary cut of this teacher be done'.

Sources said the VC was most displeased to see the condition/upkeep of chemistry lab there where there was no chemical and reagent but empty bottles kept in a row.

Sources said the VC has asked Yadav to prepare a list of college teachers who skip examination duties.

VC told this reporter that without any genuine reason no teacher drafted for examination duty can escape doing invigilation work and if he does so then he invites action against himself.

On being asked that the lone constituent college of NPU in Garhwa is yet to be evaluated by NAAC Ojha said ' I have been motivating people of this constituent college to get prepared for NAAC evaluation but nothing tangible seems to have been done in this direction.'.

He conceded that labs, library, toilet, common rooms, play ground are in poor condition and other infra structural facilities are missing here.

Asked if the NPU sits tight with fund and makes its colleges to starve Ojha said ' It is wrong, total wrong. We are ready to give fund. But give us plan, estimate. Without plan and estimate how you can release fundIJ'
