Vice Chancellor of Nilamber Pitamber University SN Singh, Commandant of 134 Battalion of CRPF in Daltonganj SK linda, Deputy Commandant SK Mohanty CRPF Doctor K K Singh and Adivasi College Hostel Superintendent K Oraon and others on Saturday early morning detoured dalit villages in the outskirt of the town Daltonganj creating awareness about environment and forest.
Sources said this is the first time in the history of NP university in a span of 8 years where its VC walked 5 Kilometers stretch passing through the dalit basti with CRPF commandant who joined as a gesture of oneness with nature.
Sources said the NP university had till now confined itself to just administrative and academic works but such interaction with the depressed class of people the bhuiyans was never done as it was seen on June 17 morning. Sources said it took many morning walkers by surprise watching VC and a posse of CRPf officers and jawans for trees.
VC S N Singh said, “As rains are eluding us so we walked early in the morning on Saturday with CRPF top brasses and went through dalit bastis giving an impression that if trees are around our life is safe and secured’.
Commandant CRPF SK linda said ‘CRPF is always committed to social and environmental responsibilities and on Saturday it was a pleasure to walk 5 Kms down with VC of NPU and teachers for the cause of trees’.
Sources said VC’s detour of villages right behind the GlA college here gains significance since the government has carved out a chunk of land here on GlA college campus for the construction of NPU’s administrative building and this morning walk down of VC with CRPF for trees sent out a message that education and environment can go together.
With rains to come in a few days time here tree watching means more than what meets the eyes said sources.
