NPU to return fee with interest to job applicants

The Nilamber Pitamber University has taken a decision to return the money of the job applicants. About 5,000 applicants had submitted their job applications way back in the year 2009 -2010 along with the requisite bank draft for the third and the fourth grade services in the varsity.

However, it is more than four years and nothing has been done with these job applications, said university sources. The refund will be done adding the interest.“The university will find out the rate of interest applicable, at the time of submission of the fee, for its calculation to be returned with the principal amount. The SBI’s rate of interest will to be found out,” said the university sources.

The applicants will get their money back with RTGS facility which is crediting amount direct into the account of theirs. Sources said this situation has arisen because the State Government has put a brake on any appointment so far. The vice-chancellor of the University AN Ojha said this is to be done shortly.

The VC has asked a student organisation to lend a helping hand in returning the money as sorting nearly 5,000 job applications is not an easy task with human resource crunch plaguing the university the hardest way. The offer to students’ organisation has come as a big surprise to the various students bodies here which had not expected this kind of participatory invitation from the VC himself.

The VC later told The Pioneer that the students would then be able to know the heat of the enormity of the task as making demand is always easier but meeting it with such an acute shortage of hands trebles the pains. The VC said such a participatory involvement of students in university affairs is to shorten the gap between the university and the students.
