Will the Nilamber Pitamber University be able to move into its new administrative building by August 15? All fingers are crossed and hope of it is overcast with skepticism as in the past it has missed dates of occupancy on many occasions,courtesy the contractor.
This university has been functioning since 2009 in the rented guest house of the Zila Parishad, of which the rent is staggeringly too high and exorbitant. A multi crore university complex is coming up on a 25 acre chunk of land on the campus of the GLA college in Daltonganj.
Manoj Jha, executive engineer of the Jharkhand state building construction corporation limited Ranchi said that the contractor has assured to hand over the administrative building by August 15.
However, Jha conceded there would be still left many more furnishings to be done like in the toilet etc. The executive engineer conceded the contractor has prolonged and delayed this project much against his own harm professionally.
Ducking an answer to a straight query of this newspaper as to how much delay has been done by the contractor to which executive engineer said quite tongue in cheek it is more than a year or so but hastens to add that they have been shooting off letters after letters to this contractor to accelerate construction work but it manages to sit and sleep over this project.
Jha blames Covid pandemic too for the delay in the readiness and completion of the NPU buildings.
Asked if the contractor is refusing to adhere to the prescribed specification of installing a cooling system in the building Jha said the contractor has been directed to get in touch with the consultant over this cooling insulation.
The executive engineer admitted the present chamber of the VC Dr RL Singh is unfit in time like this Covid pandemic where maximum thrust is on the social distancing a shift from here to the new administrative building is a must now for the VC.
CCDC of the NPU Arvind Pandey said that they look forward to this construction corporation being limited to ensure that it hands over our building now without any more delay and this date of August 15 does not become another missed date.
