NPU issues first degree certificate in 8 years

Published on:

Friday July 28 became a landmark day for NP University here when it issued its first ever degree certificate to a B Tech (mechanical) pass out student Kishore Anurag who had done his B Tech courses from RCIT Bishrampur in Palamu in 2014. Sources said this issuance of degree was the first in 8 years.

Giving this information SN Singh V-C NPU said this degree certificate in favour of Anurag has been sent to his postal address by India Post (speed post) as Anurag did not turn up to receive it by hand here.

The V-C said the NPU was set up in the year 2009 but since then no degree certificate was issued to any one for the reason that prior to issuance of degree certificate it has to be passed through the Senate to accord it a stamp of legality and since no Senate meeting has taken place here in this university since 2009 the issue of degree certificate was just put on hold.

The V-C  was very candid when he told mediapersons here on Friday ‘ OSD (J) to her excellency the Chancellor of the universities of state was keenly pursuing this case and was asking the university to issue it to Kishore Anurag without any more delay’.

Singh refrained from making any comment on the delay in issuance of degree certificate to Kishore Anurag said this issuance has opened a vista to all such pass out students of this university to have their degree certificate when such pass out students find it indispensable and mandatory for their placement or employment either in the country or abroad.

VC assured that such critical cases where job and career of our pass out students is in limbo because of this degree certificate the university is prompt to deliver them if such students fulfill the requisites.

Kishore Anurag had knocked at virtually all doors from Raj Bhavan to UGC to CM Jan Samwad here.  Sources said there was hardly a week or so when Anurag did not send e mail to university authorities for his degree certificate.

Describing the features of the degree certificate VC  said ‘ It is a 220 gram per square meter paper. It has water mark and bar code.  There are other security inputs in this degree certificate too’.

VC said the degree certificate is bilingual Hindi and English to cater to the needs of the students  as English version will serve the purpose of our students abroad .

VC and university controller of examinations Ganga Pd Singh  said ‘ We understand the huge backlog of degree certificates since 2009 and a phase wise effort to clear it will be started soon where these instruments of previous years pass outs will be sent to the respective colleges for its mailing by post to the concerned’.
