Nilamber Pitamber University has postponed its final year degree examination, scheduled to begin on September 14, until further notice.
‘Unavoidable reasons’ have been cited for this postponement of examination as new schedule of examination is to be announced soon read an ‘emergent’ notice of the university in this regard.
Sources said the entire exercise of ‘postponement’ of this final year degree examination is wrapped in unwarranted hurry as first information in nearly six lines regarding postponement of this examination was made late at night by the controller of the examination S K Pandey wherein it was hinted the postponed examination may start in the last week of September itself.
Sources said when eyebrows were raised over this kind of late night announcement of postponement of the examinations there came an ‘emergent’ notice in proper official format of NPU’s Examination Department speaking of revised schedule coming soon for the postponed examination.
Sources said in the proper official format there is no hint of the possibility of this postponed examination to start in the last week of September. Sources said this discrepancy was all avoidable had the university not made the first announcement in haste.
Registrar of NPU Jayant Shekhar said “Schedule of this examination has been shifted or extended. The university is committed to conduct this examination by all means.”
Agreeing that use of the term ‘postponement’ of examination may send wrong message to the students Shekhar said “The university is all geared to conduct this examination as our VC R L Singh has made it clear our mode of examination will be of pen paper and not online.”
Shekhar said the right thing to say about the fate of this examination is that its dates have been shifted and extended and nothing more.
Well placed sources said the chief minister Hemant Soren is to take the final call on the timing of the examinations of the final year in all the 8 universities of the state in view of the rising cases of Covid 19.
Secretary disaster management Amitabh Kaushal said “HRD is in touch with us regarding the maintenance of health protocol in the examination.”
