Nilamber Pitamber University’s premier GLA College here will surrender Rs 2 crore given to it under RUSA (Rashtriya Ucchatar Shickchha Abhiyan) as this college has failed in the last four years to get it evaluated and assessed by NAAC.Giving this information at the press conference here today Vice Chancellor of the NP University S N Singh said, “A meeting to this effect has been convened by the State higher education council in Ranchi wherein this college will be asked to surrender this Rs 2 crore.”
Singh said, “I had been continuously prodding the principal and other functionaries of this college to take NAAC seriously but it fell on deaf ears resulting in the surrender of Rs 2 crores, which could have changed the face of this college.” As a measure of great relief there would now be EPF (Employee provident fund) of all categories of officials be they are contractual or casual or daily wagers etc said the VC adding that colleges have been directed to proceed in this direction. There are 22 contractual / daily wagers in NPU who will now have EPF account of them reiterated VC.
The VC said, “When I had joined here about more than two years back the NPU had a fixed deposit of 9 crores which has now risen to 30 crores till March 2019.” He said the directives issued by the Chancellor are met with in all seriousness here in this university and “We most candidly submit our ATR (Action Taken Report) in the meeting of the Chancellor.” Singh said, “There has come a pragmatic change in the participation of teachers in Refresher course and Orientation course that used to be held in Academic Staff College Ranchi for which a teacher has to take nearly a month’s leave for the course affecting teachings of his subject in the college or the department.”
VC said under new dispensation this going out for nearly a month long leave on Refresher course and Orientation course is to be wound up phase wise by online doing of these courses which will not compel any teacher to go out on such a leave. VC said one teacher of our university M K Deepak has done this course online and did not go on any leave for it. He said from the session 2020 -2021 there will be no off line admission in any UG and PG courses here but only online where an admission seeker will go on Chancellor’s Portal for the admission. VC said the Chancellor is very particular about it. He sought students and parents co operation in this. He said NPU is committed to adhere to the Academic Calendar come what obstacles are in the way.
He agreed that billing of teachers’ wages per class Rs 600 here is 36,000 rupees even for month where the actual deliverance of the teacher is far less than the working days of the month. He said “I have stemmed such a billing on a number of occasions here.” The VC said the government is toying with the idea to enhance this to 50,000 rupees a month as a consolidated remuneration delinking it from per class remuneration mode.
He said semester system examination has trebled the load of university’s examination department where a firm UST of Delhi too is throwing spanner in our plan and scheme of examinations in utter violation of the agreement reached with it which gives us an edge over it since this university holds perpetual licence to a software of UST which UST is keeping ‘hijacked’ from the university. VC said this UST has been served a show cause notice in this regard.
