Nilamber Pitamber university is buying gold medals for it’s around 55-56 outstanding graduates and post graduates for its first ever convocation in this nine-year-old university. The convocation as per telecommunication from Raj Bhavan to this university is set to be held on October 4.
Sources said the process of sale purchase has been most transparent and through tender notices where norms of sale purchase have been strictly followed.
Vice Chancellor of NPU S N Singh said, “We floated a tender for gold medal supply. Three firms responded to it. One from Kolkata, one from Indore and one from Rourkela. It was the Kolkata firm which quoted the lowest price and it also met our technical requirement of the gold medal. This Kolkata firm is supplying us the gold medals.”
NPU did the same kind of tender for its Pagrees where a Jaipur based firm bagged the contract for the supply of 900 pagrees.
Blue pagree is for UG degree holders while yellow for the post graduate degree holders said pro vice chancellor of NPU P K Poddar.
UG girls and PG girls will wear the same which their boy counterparts would be wearing. VC Singh said there was a tender for this too. NPU is buying 900 pagrees some of which will be a bit refined for the VVIPs on this occasion.
If gold medal is coming from Kolkata, pagree from Jaipur then ang vastram is coming from Bhagalpur in Bihar.

The VC said, “I spoke to DC Palamu Shantanu Kumar Agrahari and apprised him of the visit of the Governor cum Chancellor here on October 4 as we have been assured of this date by Raj Bhavan officials. Work on pandal has started on the rear field of the GLA college across 134 battalion of CRPF. Various committees have been set up to carry on the convocation work.”
Sources said the university is short listing a lady teacher who will tie the pagree to the Chancellor. Sources said Raj Bhavan is insisting for just an hour’s programme of Chancellor here while the NPU officials look forward to some more time of the Chancellor here.
The NPU is planning to prune many other things like lighting of lamp ceremony, welcome song singing item etc to save more time for the mandatory rituals related to the convocation to be performed or observed.
