In order to cater to the changing requirements of the youths, the Jamshedpur sub-regional employment exchange, which coordinates activities of the employment exchanges located in three districts of East Singhbhum, West Singhbhum and Seraikela Kharsawan, has planned a slew of new facilities.
The employment exchange is planning to start career study center and career counseling center to benefit job aspirants by providing them journals for various competitive exams and guiding them on various career prospects depending on their qualifications. Now unemployed youths will get SMS alerts on job openings on their mobile.
A proposal mooted by Shashi Bhushan Jha, assistant director of the Jamshedpur sub-regional employment exchange, has been accepted by the State labour, employment and training directorate.
Suman, said that the department will send a request in this connection to Jharkhand Agency for Promotion of Information Technology (JAP IT) department to deal with the technicalities involved in the project.
“It has several advantages vis-à-vis existing method of communicating about job vacancies to unemployed candidates through postal methods. It is cheaper and more reliable than the postal methods. We hope to start the service soon after getting a nod from JAP IT,” said Satish Suman.
For youth hooked on short text messaging, perhaps the next plum job offer could land via SMS.
At the moment, the employment exchanges send communication to unemployed candidates through registered post or through speed post. Understanding this trend, “we have plans for mobile that is extremely user-friendly and cost effective for our clients. This service will benefit employers by offering a simple and speedy recruitment process” said an official.
In registered post there is no reliability on the date of receipt of the letters. However, through SMS alerts, the unemployed candidates will be getting information about vacancies at a short span at a very cheaper rate. In today’s world of convergence of medium, mobile integration plays an important role. People are on the move and prefer to get services on their hand phones.
The Golmuri exchange had offered jobs through rojgar melas to 507 job seekers in 2009, 1648 job seekers in 2010 and till November, 2011 it had provided 1,490 jobs covering Kolhan region.
