Note ban gimmick to help corporate friends: Kejriwal

In a scathing attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his decision of demonetisation, Delhi Chief Minister and APP national convenor Arvind Kejriwal alleged him for having hand in glove with corporate giants for the sake of money. The leader addressing a rally here on Thursday also termed the entire exercise a gimmick at the cost of the nation and poor people.

In what he called a big expose, Kejriwal said that the November 8 decision was just to collect money from poor people of the country into the banks so that loans of big business houses can be waived again. “The Prime Minister waived loan of the likes of Adani, Mallya and Birla in the tune of Rs 1.14 lakh crore in two years. Now, the banks are empty and they needed more money to continue with it. Modi and Amit Shah went into a meeting, passed the information to his friends and announced the demonetisation move. Now common men are in line to deposit money which would be used to write-off loans taken by corporate in the tune of Rs 8 lakh crore. It is a big scam,” said the APP leader.

He also asked the people, who came from several districts of the State in good numbers, whether any loan of theirs have been written off ever. Kejriwal cited recent decision of the banks to put loan given to Vijay Mallya aside and his escaping from the country to drive home his point. “When everyone knew that Mallya is a defaulter how could he flee the countryIJ His Rs 1200 crore have been waived just recently when you people were standing in queues. What was his relation with the PMIJ Has he done without anything in returnIJ There is some foul play into all this,” said the CM levelling direct corruption charges against the PM.

Kejriwal reiterated his allegations and showed papers about alleged kickbacks given by companies like Sahara and Birla and unearthed in an Income Tax raid conducted in 2013 at their premises. He showed the file and quoted that on page 217 there was a mention of Rs 25 crore to be given to the Gujarat Chief Minister. Similar payments were made by Sahara in the IT raid conducted, added he and read out all the said diary entries made in the tune of crores. The Delhi CM in his about one hour speech also denounced the drive being called against corruption and challenged the Prime Minister to take action against money hoarders.

“I personally know and have seen the file with the Prime Minister having names of 648 individuals having account numbers in the Swiss bank. This file contains all the names from Ambani brothers, their mother, Birla, to Naresh Goyal etc. Why not is he arresting them and putting behind the barsIJ These people who have black money are his friends. It proves that his intention is not to remove corruption but something else,” said the firebrand leader.

In the rally three MlAs of AAP in Delhi Assembly and several district coordinators appointed by the party in Jharkhand were present. Surprise presence was of Padam Shree Simon Oraon who remained stationed on the stage after being felicitated by Kejriwal.

“I have here not do any politics but to tell you the kind of misconduct is going on. I want to ask why no probe has been ordered against the findings so far whereas several IT inquiries are being ordered against us. Again after demonetisation, common man is being told to go cashless whereas political parties are free to accept donations in cash. BJP takes 70 per cent of its donations in cash while Congress takes 80 per cent in cash. In all this is AAP where just 8 per cent of donation comes in cash given by poor people,” said Kejriwal and also questioned the logic behind issuing Rs 2000 denomination note which, he claimed, would make corruption easier.
