Non-availability of ambulance for shifting a 60-year old patient, Kesar Yadav, from Sadar Hospital to Ranchi resulted in his death.
Yadav, a resident of Routpur, was brought to Sadar Hospital by his family members with injuries on Friday.
The doctors referred him to Ranchi for better treatment but, it is alleged, gross negligence of the hospital staff and non-availability of ambulance led to his death.
The driver allegedly complained of lack of fuel in the ambulance. It is also said that he demanded `2,000 for taking the victim to Ranchi. The time wasted in the argument proved fatal for the victim, it was claimed.
The Human Resource Minister, Neera Yadav, who later visited the hospital, warned the civil surgeon of action for the alleged callousness of the hospital staff. While expressing condolences over the death, the Minister assured the relatives of the deceased of any possible help.
