No takers for UMANG helpline

Published on:

Much to the disappointment of the psychologists, UMANG -- the helpline-cum-counselling centre set up at Ranchi Institute of Neuro-Psychiatry and Allied Sciences is yet to receive a call from students especially after the matric results were declared on Tuesday.

The service was launched last year for providing comprehensive solutions to young minds which needs counselling after they fail or do not get good marks. “We have not received any phone call since Tuesday after JAC results were declared,” said Rani Tabassum Ansari. There has been a very low turnout this month as compared to March where we got very good response from the students who are given necessary psychological assistance after calling them at the Centre, added Tabassum. The helpline number 0651-2451058 has been provided for students suffering from stress of poor academic performance or those who failed to sustain the competition. Tabassum said it is seen that teenagers find it difficult to accept failure and their egoistic nature forces them to take life threatening moves.
