Cold wave will prevail in the state in the next few days as there will be no relief till January 15, the situation will improve only after January 15. Abhishek Anand, Director at the Meteorological Center in Ranchi, said that in fact the minimum temperature is 2 to 3 degrees higher, but due to the fall in the maximum temperature of the day, people are feeling colder. The difference between maximum and minimum temperature has reduced considerably, due to which this situation has arisen.
Meteorologist Abhishek Anand said that fog and mist will remain in the day till January 15. At present, Jharkhand and Ranchi are affected by the cold wind coming from the north, due to which there is a cold wave. While Thursday's maximum temperature is 21 degrees, the minimum temperature is 10.2 degrees. That is, there is no big difference between the maximum and minimum temperature of day and night, due to which people are chilling in the cold.
Due to the cold wave, it has become difficult for people to come out of the cold wave even during the day. Instead of 6:00 in the morning, people are leaving for the morning walk at 8:00. The fog has made it difficult to drive. Since the beginning of the new year, the cold has increased in Ranchi.
Earlier, due to the prevailing cold wave, schools have been ordered to remain closed for students of Classes 1 to 5 till January 8. While the schools will remain closed up to Class 5, students from the remaining classes would be required to go to school as per their given timetable until further orders are issued.
In Jharkhand, cold wind and fog have gushed all over the city resulting in a temperature drop. Since January 1, the eastern state has witnessed a sudden drop in temperature due to the cold wave.
Though the schools upto class 5 will remain closed till January 8, parents and students have demanded change in school timing. Ankit Kumar, a resident of Ratu Road said, “My daughter studies in DAV. The school bus reaches at 7 am, the school administration should change the school timing from 8 am to 9.30 am so that children don’t have to suffer due to the cold wave.”
