NP university has geared up for the Chancellor’s Trophy and as this university has opted for Wrestling (Boys and girls both) there will be now an inter university wrestling tournament. S N Singh VC of this university said on Thursday evening, “I have requested our chancellor’s office to either grace the inauguration or the finale of the wrestling here which is slated for August 29 to 31st.” Amir Khan’s film Dangal seems to be the inspiring force behind this NPU going for wrestling tournament.
In a press meet here on Thursday, on the occasion of his completing 100 days in office, S N Singh Singh did not make any tall claim of his 100 days achievement. He did not make any promise of moon but said quite emphatically that time has come when V-Cs should come out of their ivory tower and should discharge work of as many as 5 or 6 departments as only then any university can pace up with newer challenges. He said, “I write, save it in my pen drive and then ask my computer man here to take out the copies of it.”
The VC did not mince any word when he said, “I feel discomfort here in office and at my residence too thus dropping a big hint that desired co operation from the working hands here is a great miss.” He said, “I am told this NPU used to sit late at night till 9 or 10 pm but today staff & officials here pack up by six in the evening.”
He expressed satisfaction that the NPU completed SIA on three major government projects here which related to bridges on main roads of Palamu and Garhwa district. He in the same vein announced the restart of poor students’ coaching classes on the campus of GlA College here. He further said efforts are on to get seats in university B Ed College from 50 to 100 by taking into confidence NCTE Bhuvneshwar. PhD admission and other works related to research are accorded high priority now. VC looked sanguine saying since the body of Senate is now complete the university is set to hold its maiden meeting of Senate this very year itself.
