No permanent teacher in residential girls' schools

There are two residential schools especially for girls in Hazaribagh district. In both schools more than 200 students are enrolled but there is no permanent teacher in both schools to teach the students. It is the factual condition which was put before the Principal Secretary of Social Welfare Department of Jharkhand Government in the meeting held at Ranchi on last Friday.

When asked about it the District Welfare Officer of Hazaribagh Ratish Singh Thakur informed that he had raised the matter in the meeting and the Secretary has directed him to arrange teachers on class basis payment till the permanent arrangement is made. The welfare department will bear this burden. The teachers will be paid an amount of `200 per class.

In Hazaribagh district two residential schools for girl students are running with the help of welfare department. One residential school for the girl students of backward classes is in Hazaribagh town.

In this school presently there is only one permanent teacher who is going to retire in the month of August this year. He is actually a Sanskrit teacher but is managing classes of other subjects too.

Another staff who is posted here was appointed ago as Physical Trainer. He also engages class here but what will he do after the retirement of Sanskrit teacher, only god knows. Another residential school for girl students of Scheduled Castes is situated in Barsot of Barhi sub-division. Here too the story is almost same. Here there is no permanent teacher of any subject to teach the students. The students of lower classes are usually taught by the students of higher classes because the guest teachers do not want to take classes here due to delayed payment.

Now the matter has been raised before the departmental secretary so it can be hoped that both welfare and human resource ministries of Jharkhand Government will take it seriously and will arrange subject teachers for about 500 girl students of Hazaribagh district belonging to Scheduled Castes and backward classes.
