No nominations on Day II from Ranchi for FJCCI polls

Mysterious lull gripped the Federation of Jharkhand Chamber of Commerce & Industries (FJCCI) office today as no nomination was filed by any camp on the second day of the nomination period. Only two nominations have been filed for the post of Regional Vice-president (RVP) from outside Ranchi.

“No nomination was made today by anyone from Ranchi. And we have received one nomination each from Singhbhum and Deoghar for RVP,” said Secretary General of FJCCI, Pawan Kumar Sharma.

Nomination for the election has started on August 18 and will end on August 22; scrutiny will be conducted on August 22 whereas last date for pulling out of race is August 24. Voting will take place on September 7.

For the first time in the history of federation election computerized polling will be introduced. As many as 50 computers will be used to register votes of 2470 voters. Special software has been developed to smoothen voting process and to reduce wastage of votes that usually happens in the ballot paper method of voting. The new method of voting will help in declaring results within two-hours of voting. Voting will take place at Marwari Bhawan at Harmu.

“Each computer will be programmed to register a predetermined number of votes and it lock automatically as soon as the maximum limit will reach. That computer will be kept aside and a new will be used in place of it,” added Sharma.

Notably, each member has to cast 21 votes to select as many numbers of executive committee members of the federation which makes the entire process cumbersome and time consuming. The software has been developed to reduce time taken to cast one vote and it will keep on reminding a voter of any discrepancy observed in the voting process.
