Chief Minister Hemant Soren on Tuesday said that there is no need to fix fresh priorities for development in the State. It will be sufficient if the ongoing schemes are implemented properly the State, he added.

Soren was speaking to media persons after a review meeting with the senior district officials on the issue of administration and law and order situation in the State. All district administrative officials, including Chief Secretary Sajal Chakraverty and Director General of Police Rajeev Kumar were present in the meeting.

“A thorough discussion over bringing the ongoing central schemes on the ground took place during the meeting and I have asked the officials to ensure that the centrally-sponsored schemes are implemented properly in the State,” said Soren. The CM, who returned today after eight days’ vacation, also stressed on removing the lapses prevailing in the executive.

Rejecting the Chief Secretary’s idea of establishing a liasioning office in Delhi to co-ordinate with the Centre, Soren said that it is important that the lapses in the executive are removed.

Soren after reviewing all the departments in the next 3-4 days, the Chief Minister has a plan to visit the districts in order to take stock of the ground realities.

Several issues were raised before the CM during the assessment session of the police department. It was decided to establish Integrated Police Colony at seven different locations for the families of policemen across the state which will have all the facilities like schools, hospitals and other basic amenities.

The issue of un-notified police stations was also raised in the meeting due to which FIR could not be filed posing serious problems with the police stations.

The CM was also informed that despite 1000 motorcycles sanctioned by the Central Government, the select committee is yet to pass it here.

The CS, on the other hand, questioned the district officials’ unwanted visit to the state headquarters without taking prior permission.

“I will try to press that the DCs should not come to Ranchi unnecessarily without taking permission from headquarters,” said Chakraverty.  The officers were also told to get disciplined and give advance tour programme, he added.

Referring to the motive behind the meeting, Chakraverty said that he was trying to revive the old culture of meetings with the district officials so that regular exchange of ideas takes place between the two.

According to Chakraverty, the meeting also called to pass on the action plan to be taken by the officials in the district during the next 4-5 months.

“We are also passing the message to our officials about the rules of the game in the next 5-6 months till the elections take place. The CM is also trying to think out of the box so that the overall situation in the State could be improved,” Chakraverty said.

When asked about the action to be taken by the government to curb coal smuggling in the State, the CS hinted that some of the officials may be reshuffled in the near future.

“It is not easy to check illegal mining and smuggling of coal in the State, and the steps taken towards it are in an initial stage. There is a strong nexus between the officials and mafias, so it is quite possible that some of them may get transferred soon,” Chakraverty added.
