Branding BJP’s prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi as poison, Union Minister Jairam Ramesh today said “Modi ‘lahar’ nahi ‘Jahar’ hai. (Modi is not wave, its poison)”, adding that India would be in the grip of a tsunami if the Modi became the PM and BJP-led government is appointed a manager to combat with that natural calamity.
Ramesh was addressing a poll rally at Dhanbad in Jharkhand on Sunday. “I never told (during my foreign visits) that India is the dirtiest and laziest country in the world. But I told that about 60 percent people still go in open for defecation, needs toilet," he added. Ruling out any Modi wave across the country the Union Minister said that the UPA alliance would be the major gainer in the election like past (in 2004 and 2009). He hoped that the UPA will also get majority in 2014 and will form government at the center.
On being asked about party spokesperson Shashi Tharoor's statement of no vacancy at top in the congress for Priyanka, Ramesh said, "It's true that there is no vacancy in the congress top post as both, president and vice-president are occupied by Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi respectively." “Priyankya is campaigning only in Raibareli and Amethi and she is playing a vital and impressive role,” he added.
Ramesh said that this election would determine political fate of Jharkhand too and urge to mass to vote for UPA for holistic development. Under the political campaign Jairam rushed to Dhanbad on Sunday in support of congress (UPA) candidate Ajay Dubey along with state Congress president Sukhdeo Bhagat and took part in a roadshow in Dhanbad. Branding sitting MPs responsible for backwardness of the constituency and BJP for Jharkhand minister said that BJP ruled the state for more than 8 years but development is stand still.
