Even after Bangladesh is said to have shared inputs with India of at least 10 militants having infiltrated into Indian soil, the State police denied having shared any such information from the Centre.
State Police spokesperson and ADG (Operations) SN Pradhan said that no such information has been sent to the State by Centre or any of its agencies.
However, Pradhan said that the State was in regular touch with Central agencies for ‘regular and routine’ inputs.
He also claimed that security at a number of places including Pakur and others has been beefed up accordingly. But he denied getting specific inputs related to militants infiltrating into Pakur or using it as their hideout.
The seriousness of the issue can be imagined with the fact that it has been claimed in some reports that Bangladesh has not only shared the names, but also photographs of those 10 militants who have possibly succeeded in infiltrating to India.Bangladesh has said that these are among those militants who have been found active in attacking in Dhaka and assassinating 22 foreigners on 1st July.
Pakur SP Ajay linda said, “We work on inputs, not on speculations. Whatever reports are coming are merely speculations,” said linda. Though, he also said that the Department was working actively on routine inputs as they came.
“It is true that Pakur happens to be a vulnerable district, as it shares boarder with Bangladesh and security arrangements here remain accordingly. But it is only somewhere in first quarter of last year that a terrorist named Ibrahim was held in Pakur in connection with Burdwan blast. We handed him over to NIA and the district remains largely untouched by militants in terms of safe hideout,” he said.
