A bad news for the denizens of Hazaribagh district, Electricity department has said that there is no hope in improvement of power supply condition in the near future. The denizens will have to face the crisis in the days to come.

On the instructions of MP Jayant Sinha the Executive Engineer of Hazaribagh Electricity Board Ramvyas Mishra and Executive Engineer of DVC RS Sharma organised a joint press conference to clear the position.

Both officers said that Hazaribagh district is getting about 30 per cent less power than the requirement. Due to the dispute going on between DVC and JSEB on the issue of pending payment, DVC is not in a position to supply full load required here because its production has come down and electricity board is looking towards central government to get money to clear the debt.

EE Mishra informed that there are about 1.5 lakhs electricity consumers in Hazaribagh district. In town 21000 consumers are domestic while about 19000 are commercial consumers. With time the electricity consumption is on the rise and the transformers are getting overloaded. He appealed to the consumers to use electricity miserably and cautiously so that loss of power can be checked.

In their appeal to the citizens of Hazaribagh both officers said that with the help of every consumer the situation can be controlled and for it every consumer will have to use one or two bulbs less than what they are using now. They also appealed to use CFl in place of bulbs because it consumes less power.

They also talked about the theft of electricity. As per data about 40 per cent electricity is stolen by the consumers of Jharkhand. The department is trying its best to check it but fruitful result is possible when the general people will support it. They gave some telephone numbers on which information of electricity theft can be given.

Talking about Rajeev Gandhi Rural Electricity Scheme EE DVC RS Sharma said that in Hazaribagh district we have connected 1115 villages against the target of 1123. He said that Katkamsandi Power Sub-Station is ready and very soon we will hand it over to electricity department. Both officials also blamed the cable thefts for tripping of power supply in Hazaribagh district. They said that in rural areas the wire thieves had stolen more than 2.5 kms wires in the month of August only.
