Disappointed over the failure of police officials to trace out the culprits in rape and murder case of 19-year-old girl on December 16,
students are now looking at Chief Minister Raghubar Das who assured them that the case will be handed over to the CBI if state police fails to crack it in the next 2-3 days. Meanwhile, police officials asserted that they were yet to receive any positive results in this regard.
“Despite CM’s deadline on Wednesday that the case will be handed over to the CBI if police fails to nab the criminals within two days, police are yet to receive any headway in this regard. Since the CM has returned from Singapore today only may be tomorrow or day after tomorrow, we will meet and request him to hand over the case to the CBI,” said a student leader Badal Singh.
Even after 10 days of the incident, Police were still traceless about the culprits. “We will sit on indefinite hunger strike if our demands are not fulfilled by the State Government,” he added.
Police on the other hand, have been beating the bushes by interrogating the girl’s acquaintances daily on regular basis and is said to have been looking for someone very close to the girl.
“We are continuously working on the idea that the culprit must be very close to the girl. But still forensic reports are awaited and only after which we can reach on some any conclusion,” said a senior police official requesting anonymity and added that no major lead in the case had been received so far.
Meanwhile, the Police are looking at every possible angle and people close to the girl. Her friends, classmates and acquaintances in Ranchi and Barkakana are being interrogated regularly by the police to reach at any conclusion.
“Since the case is an open ended, we are not letting any stone unturned in the case and are not leaving any one, be it her friends, relatives or any acquaintances un-interrogated,” said the official.
The semi-naked half-charred body of the 19-year-old victim, a third semester student of Ram Tahal Chowdhary Institute of Technology, Ormajhi was found in the morning inside her house at Booty Basti.
