The Election Commission has declined to revisit the decision to prevent RJD nominee from Bhawnathpur Dhramendra Pratap Deo from filling his nomination on Wednesday.
Chief Electoral Officer PK Jajoria told The Pioneer that there was no merit into the complaint and the leader has no credible evidence to prove his point. “I had sought the report from Garhwa and no evidence was with him to prove that he tried to file nomination within the time specified,” he said. Garhwa DC Sudhanshu Bhushan Barwar also said that Deo had come to the office of the returning officer at 4.30 pm and he had video footage with him.
Controversy has been there on stopping Deo from filling the nomination and also over BJP candidate from Manika Hare Krishna Singh, who the Congress claimed, filed his papers after the time limit passed.
“He has filed his nomination at 3.15 pm and we have video footage of that. We will request the EC to probe the matter,” said Subodh Kant Sahay on Thursday. Jajoria, though, denied having received any official complaint about Manika.
