The post-mortem report submitted to police on Saturday of seven-year-old  tribal child found dead in a drain in Bariatu area of the city on Thursday has falsified claims of suspected rape with a kid.

Sadar Dy SP Vikas Chandra Srivastava said on Saturday that the police which were ‘very close’ to crack the entire sequence of incident with the girl were investigating the matter with utmost care and importance, as they were having some concrete clues with them worth influencing the case negatively if disclosed at this stage of investigation.

“The post-mortem report from Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) has falsified possibilities of rape with the girl as doctors have found no internal injury in her body.

The girl is claimed to have died due to suffocation, reasons of which are still unclear. Members of SIT constituted to unearth the reason of death and nab culprits  are hopeful of decoding sequences of happenings with the girl with having some concrete clues with their hands,” said Srivastava.

Notably, this is yet another case in city which has kept officials on the toes as they have been alleged of doing nothing with the missing report lodged by girl’s parents on October 22, very same day the class-2 girl, a resident of Nata Toli and student of Utkramit Madhya Vidyalaya is said to have not returned back to her home by evening. Hundreds of tribal men and women gheraoed Bariatu Police Station on Friday alleging the police is doing nothing in order to trace the girl before her body was recovered on Thursday.
