No docs in health units on Gaya-Dhanbad route

Published on:

The lives of passengers, travelling on Grand chord section between Gaya to Dhanbad of north eastern railway, are said to be in danger and unsafe. They would be left only at the grace of God. Because railway health units between these two noted places are functional without doctors and proper medical facilities.

Though three health units are established at Gujhandi, Koderma and Hazaribag Road station on Gaya-Dhanbad rail route. But the condition of all these health centres are piteous even there is no doctor posted in these health centres for last two and half months. In this situation the passengers in emergency can be attended by doctor either at Gaya or at Dhanbad Junction only contracts of the doctors of these three health unites ended on 31st March and from then there is no doctor posted at these units.

It is significant that Koderma is one of the important stations on this route, thousands of passengers travel on this route everyday.

It is also cogitable that including four Rajdhani trains dozens of mail express and passengers trains passes through koderma  and about 169 kms distance between Gaya and Gomoh the passengers in need of medical aid cannot get even first aid.

The situation at nights became so worst because  even no medical staffs are available at the health unites while  all important trains passes through this station at  night.

The health centre at Gujhandi is functioning from British period while koderma centre is establishe around 40 years ago but unfortunately there are lapses of  medical fascilities and it can be said that these centres are in need of their own treatment.

The railway staffs are also suffering and they are going to private doctors for their and  their family’s treatments .Shivendra Prasad pharmacist of koderma health unit told that  due to unavability of quarter  at railway premises he used to live out of railway colony and unable to attend  health centre at night.

BB Singh DRM of Dhanbad rail division told that now a days they are directed to take medical aid from   sadar hospitals and   doctors will be posted at railway health units as early as possible.
