A sniffer dog pressed in at Bedani Khurd village under Tarhassi police station in Palamu on Dec 17 could not collect any lead. Villagers and police had discovered two bodies one of a male and the other of a female. The twin bodies were 2 to 3 days old and were decomposing.
SDPO Lesliganj Anup Baraik said the sniffer dog brought here to help in cracking this twin murder case just could not sniff out anything. He said there was no leftover of the killer, who had so killed the man and the woman identified as Suresh Paswan and the woman Paro Devi. Suresh owned a commander jeep and drove it to earn his living. Paro was a domestic help who used to wash the clothes, utensils, sweep the floors of the house of Suresh besides preparing food for him which she also used to partake as Suresh lived here alone following his wife being a government school teacher and posted in Latehar district with kids.
Baraik said there was no slipper, shoe, sock, bidi, gamcha, muffler, hanky left of the assailant and hence the tracker dog had not the smell of the assailant.
Further, the room in which the two were done to death with the help of a sharp blunt tool like axe was invaded by more than 50 to 60 people on Tuesday itself before the arrival of the police team there and this crowd of people at the crime spot disturbed the scene too much as crowd of people quite unwittingly moved around or touched things there which should be avoided.
The twin murder case appears to be a blind murder case as first it occurred 2 to 3 days ago before being discovered on Dec 17 and further there is no eye witness account.
Sources said in such a case the bereaved family raises accusing fingers at any number of people which has its own harm since police are to work on many tracks and cracking of the case gets delayed.
As regards family back ground of Suresh Paswan SDPO Baraik said this
scheduled caste family is quite well off as Suresh has 6 more brothers excluding him and two of whom were in police service. The other brothers are also in job outside Bedani Khurd village.
The woman Paro is also an SC woman with a mentally unsound husband Mohan Paswan. Baraik said four or five women of this family are teachers and hence the family is not only economically sound but educated too.
Asked if any land dispute led to this double murder Baraik said so far police have not found any complaint of any land dispute. Suresh and Paro were found together in one bed under mosquito net and as per villagers there the two were too close and intimate to each other which SDPO too repeated quoting the versions of the local villagers there. Sources said the killer or killers attacked the two in their sleep and on face and head with axe which meant the assailant/ assailants did not want to give any more chance to any of the two to live on.
About Suresh, locals said he was alcoholic. The two were in the 45 plus age and hence more than love cupid it was the circumstances that brought Suresh too close to Paro who did all mundane things for him from washing clothes to preparing food.
Bodies were post mortemed on Tuesday evening.
