Nitish bats for liquor ban in Jharkhand like Bihar

Published on:

Calling liquor ban as the only way for a happy society, JD-U chief and Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar said that if prohibition could be implemented in Bihar successfully, why it could not be implemented here in the neighbouring State.

Kumar, while speaking in a ‘state-level workers conference’ organised in Ranchi on Sunday, also added emphatically about his Government’s no-compromise policy on corruption and appealed the party leaders and workers to stick to the same ideology.

“If liquor ban could be implemented in Bihar why it could not be implemented here in JharkhandIJ It only needs a brave decision by the State Government. The decision has brought a sea change in the society in Bihar making the atmosphere feasible for a dignified life and has also brought the crime graph to all time low,” said Kumar. Women are happy as financial condition of their families has improved after liquor ban, he added.

Besides that campaigns against evils of society like dowry system and child marriage have also been launched in Bihar which has been welcomed all over the State and a human chain of over 14000 km was formed recently in its support, said the CM.

“Besides development, we also work against social evils and try to bring social change by mobilising the people. I appeal to the people of Jharkhand also to launch campaign for a complete ban of liquor in the State,” said the Bihar Chief Minister.

This apart, he talked about land issues and said that rights of Adiwasi-Moolwasi should be protected along with increasing the limits of reservation in the State. Referring to the recent political upheavals, Nitish said that he never compromised with corruption and has succeeded in setting up rule of law in Bihar. He also opposed the efforts of bringing changes in CNT-SPT Acts in the State.

“No changes should be made in CNT-SPT Acts and the interests of Adiwasi-Moolwasi should also be protected understanding their importance in the society,” said Kumar. He said that he was confident at the time of division, that due to rich natural resources and hardworking people of this State, Jharkhand will become number 1 State in the Country, but everyone knows what happened during the last 17 years, he added.

“In Jharkhand there was enthusiasm and despair in Bihar at the time of the division. But now what has happened you all know very well,” said the Bihar Chief Minister who also downplayed publicity saying deeds speak lauder than anything else.

State JDU President Jaleshwar Mahto, said that no work was being done Jharkhand and only fake promises are being made to the people to misguide them.

“If any work would have been done in the State, there would not have been migration in such a large scale,” said Mahto. Jharkhand was separated from Bihar not to be counted among the most backward States in the Country, he added.

Mahto also alleged that Government was not working for the welfare of the people and the incidents of Badkagaon and Godda were the examples of it. He also opposed the illegal land acquision by the State Government forcefully paving way for the corporate houses to set up their industries in the State.

Rajya Sabha Member from Bihar Harishvansh praising the work done by Kumar in Bihar said that he has to be taken along, if development is to be brought in Jharkhand.
