The Nilamber Pitamber university is girding its loins for the holding of its maiden Senate meeting. The NPU which came into existence in the year 2009 has not a single Senate meeting held to its credit while the university saw two vice chancellors in S K Roy and Firoz Ahmad.
In a warm up to hold the Senate meeting the university officials are doing preliminary works. The NPU is plagued with acute shortage of space as it runs in a guest house of Palamu zila parishad since 2009 and for Senate meeting a larger space is required.
A team of officials of the NPU led by the registrar Amar Singh visited MKDAV School in Chiyanki and held discussions there with the school’s principal V K Pandey and the principal DAV engineering college Alok as the NPU plans to engage DAV school’s conference hall which has a sitting capacity of 72 people besides a carpeted rostrum which can also accommodate half a dozen chairs for the participants.
The DAV school’s conference hall is well equipped with sound system, light, ceiling fans sans AC.The venue selection is of prime importance and this will be finalized by VC cum commissioner Palamu N k Mishra and Pro VC A N Ojha. The registrar Amar Singh is learnt to have made it a mission to hold the Senate meeting by all means at the earliest.
For the conduct of the Senate a core committee has been formed with dean students’ welfare Bijay K Singh as its chairman. Two quick meetings of the core committee have been held on two consecutive days in which several smaller committees dealing with various aspects of Senate meeting have been set up which will be operative once these are approved of by the VC N K Mishra and the Pro VC A N Ojha.
The committees range from Agenda to Publicity ( media) inclusive of registration, reception, transportation, discipline, security etc.According to the registrar Amar Singh June 21 is the tentative date for the Senate meeting and date and permission for Senate meeting is to be accorded approval by the Hon’ble Chancellor cum Governor Jharkhand Syed Ahmed.
