NIA team calls on Sithio again

Published on:

Much for the distress of Sithio villagers, a three member team of National Investigation Agency (NIA) again on Sunday visited the site where bombs were recovered the adjoining areas of the village where the Ranchi Module of Indian Mujahedeen (IM) were trained for triggering terror attacks.

The three member team led by NIA DIG Jyoti Kumar was also accompanied by the two arrested IM suspects – Haider alias ‘Black Beauty’ and Mujibullah, arrested from Ranchi on May 26.

The source as well as the villagers confirmed that the team also went inside the adjoining jungles where the members of Ranchi Module of IM allegedly were being trained to prepare and explode bombs after planting them on a suitable location in order to cause maximum damage out of it.

“A three member NIA team led by DIG Jyoti Kumar on Sunday visited several sites in Sithio including those hillocks where the plots for planning bombs at Gandhi Maidan was prepared by Ranchi Module of IM,” said a police source.

Besides that the team also visited the paddy field from where six timer bombs and 18 explosive filled ‘pipes’ were recovered on the outskirts of the village on June 7, added the source.

“lastly, the team also passed through the house of Numan Ansari, but did not enter it and went towards the Ring Road,” he said.

According to a senior police official the NIA DIG team this time has come only for supervision as the investigating agency is to file the final charge sheet before the court in Patna serial blast case. “This seems to be the final touch being given to the investigation of Patna serial blast case,” said the official.

The NIA in its first charge sheet filed in April this year, has mentioned four IM operatives- Haider Ali, Mujibullah, Taufiq Ansari and Nauman Ansari, for their roles, who were later arrested from Ranchi and Daltonganj on May 26.

The agency has till now arrested twelve accused persons in the case while one of the suspects died when the bomb was being planted at Patna railway station.

Earlier on June 7, the NIA sleuths had carried out intensive search operations at several places including the water bodies in Sithio as well as the hillocks beside the Ring Road surrounding the village which allegedly was used as a training ground by the IM suspects.

The NIA team was apparently trying to establish the link between the arrested suspects as well as the evidences gathered during its investigation in the Patna serial blast case.

Six people died after the blasts took place injuring dozens of people gathered at Gandhi Maidaan in Pantna to hear Narendra Modi’s speech before the lok Sabha elections on October 27 last year.
