A day after his house was raided by the Pune police, social activists Stan Swamy has alleged that Government was trying to silence the voice of social activists who are working for the poor, marginalized and voiceless of the society.
He demanded that Government should drop all such false cases and release all those who are arrested. He added that the National Human Rights Commission should also intervene urgently and ensure the release of human right activists.
Swamy came out with a press statement on Wednesday saying the police raided his house in Namkum from 6 am in the morning and seized several articles including mobile phone, tab and CD adding the seizure list in Hindi has not yet been provided to him.
He said he was still not sure on what basis the raid was conducted against him. “If the Maharashtra police was trying to implicate me in a case that happened in Pune I was not present there,” he asserted.
He said he was working for the adivasi community in Jharkhand and alleged that intention of State is to target the human rights activists by foisting false and fabricated cases against them.
“All the human rights activists targeted in this multi-city operations by the police have been involved in advocating the cause and fighting for the rights of the most poor marginalized section of society against serious state violation and unscrupulous corporate,” he said.
Swamy claimed they have stood for principle of human rights enshrined in the Indian Constitution. Notably, the Maharastra police had on Tuesday carried out country wide raid in connection with violence in Bhima Kolegoan incident in Pune. Several activists were arrested in this connection.
