On the occasion of National Sports Day, the steel city got daughters born at State-owned MGM Medical College and Hospital in Sakchi and immediately enrolled themselves with UID for Aadhaar cards. The initiative was taken as part of East Singhbhum district public relation officer Sanjay Kumar who along with help of officials of MGM Medical College and Hospital got the infants enrolled for their unique id.

“We have started a massive Aadhaar enrolment drive for children and decided to do it for girl child as part of  government’s flagship ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’ drive. We had set up a camp at the hospital along with technical staff of Aadhaar unit and registered four girl child immediately after they born. Interestingly on our suggestion and consent of their parents the girls are named after shining stars of our country at the recent Rio Olympics,” said Sanjay Kumar on Monday. He is also a deputy collector at Chief Minister Raghubar Das’ camp office at Agrico.

A baby born to Anita Singh wife of Mahesh Singh from Galudih (in Ghatshila block) has been named as Sakshi  became arguably the youngest girl in the state to have her name enrolled for Aadhaar card. “The girl was born at 2.30 pm and her Aadhaar enrolment completed at 3.45 pm. The process was completed as both father and mother brought their Aadhaar card as unlike the other three newborns,” said Sanjay Kumar. For new born biometric is not needed and only photograph of face and retina is taken.

The first to get birth today was the daughter of Bina Das, wife of Manoj Kumar Das, a resident of Seraikela in Seraikela-Kharsawan district who was named as Sindhu Kumari. She was born at 11.37 am and got her Aadhaar enrolled at 2.50 pm.

She was followed by daughter of Falguni Tantubai wife of Sameer Tantubai of Bodam block who was named as Deepika Tantubai on her Aadhaar paper. The third was born to Jyotsana Karmakar wife of Telco-resident Shibu Karmakar and named as Dipa Karmaka after gymnastic sensation from India who stood fourth at the recently concluded Rio Games.
