New additional general manager (AGM) of South Eastern Railways Prabhat Sahai after assuming his charge, visited the State capital for the first time to inspect Ranchi and Hatia railway station and took stock of the facilities provided to the passengers by the railways.
Sahai in the morning after his arrival headed towards Hatia railway station from there to Ranchi station and examined their development work. After inspection Sahai felt that development work on these two stations are carried out on full swing. Though there are certain loopholes too which need to be sorted out in the near future.
He said, “I am satisfied with the development work done here. To develop these stations into a modern station it is essential that the work should be carried out with the same speed. ”
He further added, “While inspecting Ranchi railway station I found that track of platform number two has wooden slab instead of cement slab. The officials informed me that tender has been issued for this and it is expected that within six months work will be started.”
When Sahai was questioned on the security aspect by citing the example of recent Dharmara railway incident where more than thirty people died as Rajya Rani Express ran over them he said, “To avoid such untoward incidents there is a need to bridge the communication gap between district administration and railway authorities.”
He further added, “My basic aim is to ensure the safety and security of passengers who avail railway services, so all possible efforts will be made in this direction.”
Sahai main aim of this visit was to get firsthand account of the operation. So that he can work effectively and development work can be carried out at speedy pace under his leadership.
