Chhattisgarh Pradesh Congress Committee (CGPCC) President Bhupesh Baghel has charged that Prime Minister Narendra Modi came to Bastar for inaugurating new health insurance scheme being ‘blindfolded’ over the deteriorated healthcare services situation in Chhattisgarh.
The ruling BJP government in the state had worsened the healthcare services situation during the past 15 years, he said.
In a statement, Baghel raised doubts on success of the ambitious scheme launched by the Prime Minister.
Chhattisgarh is one of the poorest states in the country where around 1.25 crore people live below poverty line and it is doubtful that all of them would be benefitted, he said.
It is feared that the scheme might become only a gimmick for the upcoming Assembly polls, he added. Already the scheme of ‘Smart Card’ had proved to be a flop and people are not getting the due benefit from it, he charged.
Chhattisgarh is positioned 20th among 21 states in providing healthcare facilities and this testifies the state of affairs here, Baghel said.
Thirty seven % of the women and children are malnourished and situation in Bastar is even worse, he said.
