The State Road Construction Department on Tuesday floated the tender for construction of a new bridge that will come up over river Subernarekha linking Kandra to Chandil in the adjoining Seraikela-Kharsawan district. As per plans the bridge would be completed in two years from the date the tender is sealed.

Executive engineer, Road Construction department of Seraikela division, Sanjay Kumar Singh informed that the 230-metre-long new bridge will be 12 metres wide. The design will be based on the road-bridge set up over Kharkai, linking Bistupur with the Adityapur.
The executive engineer (road construction department) said that the new project will help to ease vehicular movement. The existing bridge was closed following one portion turning dilapidated. Concerned over situation, the state government prompted to float for a new bridge.
“Soon after the ban of movement the people were suffering. We had also demanded that steps should be taken to renovate the bridge. However we welcome the move of the Government to float the tender. The bridge connecting Kandra with Chandil will help smooth traffic. The existing bridge was caved in due to heavy rains,” said Maheshwar Sahu, a social worker.
He said that after the construction of the new bridge, the commuters would use the Kandra-Chandil bridge for having a easy ride to reach Jamshedpur from Chandil or Ranchi.
After the ban was imposed on the vehicular communication through the bridge, the residents of Chandil, Nimdih and Ichagarh have to go to Chowka to reach the Chowka-Kandra Road.
