Chief Minister Hemant Soren today said that the welfare of the workers of the State and their all-round development is the priority of the present government, for which a road map should be prepared by January 2021 to fill the vacant posts of the department. Holding a review meeting of Labour, Employment, Training and Skill Development department here on Tuesday the CM asked officials build teams that work at a speed for workers.

“Workers will not remain lifelong laborers. Jharkhand has been recognized as a labour-intensive State, it has to come out of the tag. In the current perspective, the needs have changed. The new generation will have to be trained according to these needs. They need to be encouraged and given opportunities. This new generation will emerge as a strong base of the State in the coming days,” he said.

Soren said that more than five lakh migrant workers are in the knowledge of the government. The number can be more than this and they should also be registered. The department should prepare an action plan for their welfare. Issue toll free numbers for such workers, so that they can share their problems and the government gets an opportunity to redress their troubles. His silence needs to be heard and understood seriously,” he said.

The CM said that it would be appropriate to provide training to the children pursuing certificate courses in ITI as per the demand of the market. “Get survey done in the market. What will be the market demand in the next five years, train according to that demand so that they can get employment / self-employment. The department should talk to the industries operating in the State and work towards the adjustment of trained children. Provide employment training to children including welder, motor mechanic, electrician, transformer repairing, plumbering. Ensure training of children with modern technology,” said the CM.

The CM said that many welfare schemes are also run by the Department of Labour, Employment, Training and Skill Development. He asked officials to organize workshops for MLAs and inform them about the beneficial scheme of the workers, so that the public representatives can benefit the workers of the area.
