Cold blooded murder of a 12-year-old student of Sapphire International School, Vinay Mahto, turned heads of National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) that sent a team of two members to probe into the nerve chilling incident and submit a report on the course of investigation also.

The team comprising members Yashwant Jain and Priyank Kanoongo arrived on Tuesday and spent around one-and-a-half hours at Sapphire International School and its hostel where the unfortunate victim faced the ordeal before succumbing to the fatal injury.

“We visited the school and interacted with school staffs, principal and tried to find out whether they are cooperating in the investigation or not,” said Jain.

The team collected information from the school and the hostel where the incident occurred to compile a report that will be handed over to the Chairperson of the apex body for protection of child rights in the country. The fact finding team, however, could not meet the family members of the unfortunate boy.

“We will submit this report either on Thursday or Friday,” expressed Jain, adding “although we could meet family members of the boy we are trying to get in touch with them”.

Notably, Vinay was found soaked in blood near teachers’ hostel in the wee hours of Friday and was rushed to Gurunanak Hospital and finally to Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences where he was declared dead. Police had detained nine people initially and detained other six people as the scope of the investigation expanded and experts of State Forensic Sciences laboratory collected samples for joining the dots to uncover the facts and clear the air. A team of Crime Investigation Department also stepped in to solve the murder. Skeletons started tumbling out of closet on Monday as sniffer dog took investigating officials to the doorstep of a woman teacher put up on the first floor of the teachers’ hostel.
