NCPCR takes cognisance of Dhanbad lathi charge case

The National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) on Saturday has taken cognizance of lathi charge on minor students in Dhanbad, which took place on Friday.

On the basis of various viral messages on social media platforms NCPCR wrote a letter to Dhanbad Deputy Commissioner (DC) to submit detailed reports of the reason of the incident, the copy of statement of the minor girls, who became victim of the incident and incident related other documents.

Meanwhile, Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) State president cum MP, Deepak Prakash on Saturday has expressed strong protest against the lathi charge on students and BJYM workers in Dhanbad and said that National Commission for Protection of Child Rights has also taken cognizance of the lathi charge on minor children.

Prakash said that the BJP demands that the State Government should immediately register an FIR on the Dhanbad SDM who ordered the lathi charge on innocent girls, otherwise the party will intensify this movement. He said that the people of the State would soon give an answer to each and every one of their cowardice work, if the dictator government of Jharkhand should be showered with as many sticks as they wanted. BJP will give a befitting reply to the government, he added.

The party State president said that the SSP of Dhanbad is unable to handle the district. He said that we strongly oppose the lathi charge on innocent unarmed girls of Jharkhand in Dhanbad. The officers who used lathi should not only be sacked but they should be jailed, he added.

“This Government wants to suppress the youth movement by adopting a repressive policy. Before the elections, Congress andJMM had made many promises. Today the youth are feeling cheated. The Government had promised appointments in 2021, but instead of this, this year has been made as a lathi charge year. Far from unemployment allowance, they are beating with batons on the demand of their rights. The government is doing the work of suppressing the voice of the students by lathi-charging the girl students in Dhanbad. The way it has been beaten, it is clear that the Government has boosted the morale of the officials,” he added.

Meanwhile, amidst the on-going protests against yesterday's lathi charge on girls students by SDM,  police resorted to lathi charge on the second day on Saturday  in Dhanbad  on activists of ABVP who had organised a protest march .

The incident took place outside the collectorate when ABVP activists were marching towards railway station to enforce bandh call. As they reached near the collectorate police resorted to lathi charge without any order of a magistrate.

Earlier, the ABVP activists along with a host of BJP leaders including Dhanbad MLA Raj Sinha  also burnt effigy of SDM who himself was involved in lathicharge on girl students.

The students associated with Marxwadi Chhatra Federation too organised a separate protest  and burnt effigy of the SDM in protest of yesterday's lathicharge on girls who were demanding betterment in their intermediate results.
