Nav Bharat Jagriti Kendra is working for Disability Rights program in Hazaribagh and adjoining districts since July 2015 with support of Action Village India-Big lottery Fund, UK. They have identified 32, 366 People with Disabilities in 2274 villages of 24 blocks. The program facilitates them to be a stakeholder in the process of empowerment and entitlement realization.

Satish Girija Secretary NBJK said that Disability Rights program aims to organize such people and makes them aware of their rights enshrined by the parliament as well as UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (UNCRPD). This supports PwDs to be rightful, demanding and competent enough to lead a normal life as far as possible.

The programme works towards increased life opportunities for Children with Disabilities (CwDs) through ensuring their access to education under Right to Education Act 2011. This promotes inclusive education and schools have been made aware of the need of CwDs. Their school enrollment is a priority and 423 CwDs have been enrolled so far in villages where parents were hopeless and indifferent towards their wards, Sujata Prasad State Program Manager informed. There were 1110 school intervention activities, 88 quiz programs and 479 schools have been covered under the programme.
