launches Integrated Surveillance Research Centre
Jharkhand Director-General of Police Rajeev Kumar on Sunday claimed that Naxal activities and violence have come down by 35 per cent in the State this year in comparison to the last year. The joint efforts of the police and para-military forces have brought fruitful results for the security forces engaged in flushing out the ultras. Kumar was addressing the media at the police control room (PCR) here on Sunday.
Kumar said that during the lok Sabha elections the Maoist ultras failed to create unrest. Similarly, in the forthcoming Assembly elections, the police administration will ensure foolproof security. “The security personnel deployed in the border areas have been asked to follow the established security norms strictly while on patrolling. Besides, they have been asked to ensure smooth coordination on every front,” said, the DGP. He said that the police and the paramilitary forces have worked tremendously to curb the Naxal activities in Naxal-infested areas.
When questioned over the Tara Shahdeo-Ranjit Kohli episode, the DGP said the police have not neglected the case in any way. He said the police are looking into the case and would take necessary action against those involved in the case.
Prior to this, the DGP inaugurated an integrated surveillance research centre (ISRC) at the police control room in Sakchi. Zonal Inspector-General MS Bhatia, Deputy Inspector-General (Kolhan) Mohammed Nehaluddin and senior SP, Jamshedpur Amol V Homkar were present on the occasion.
Speaking about the ISRC, Kumar said that this was the first of its kind high-tech facility that was introduced to check crime rate and road mishaps. It will help in checking the incidents of road mishaps and acts like snatching, and assaulting commuters at public places,” said the DGP while talking to the mediapersons.
Speaking about the benefit of the ISRC, Kumar said that sometimes owners of separate vehicles get indulged in group clash after one’s car is rammed by another.
“With the ISRC, the police would easily examine whose fault caused the mishap. Similarly, the criminal activities in the city will also register a positive change. He pointed out that the CCTV footage may be used as an evidence to corroborate one’s crime during trial in a court of law.
The DGP has announced that similar ISRCs will be set up at Ranchi, Dhanbad, Bokaro and Hazaribag shortly.
later in the afternoon, the DGP launched Jamshedpur Accident Relief and Medical Assistance (JARMA) facility at a function organised at the Medica Super Specialist Hospital in Bistupur. Tata Steel Managing Director TV Narendran and senior doctors of the hospital were present on the occasion.
Under the initiative of JARMA, a mishap victim will be rescued and carried to the Medica Super Specialist Hospital by police ambulance from the spot. The ambulance will have the presence of a para-medics and a police constable in it. The ambulance will rush to the mishap spot on giving a call on toll free No 100 within 10 minutes.
