In order to make it a litigation-free society, National legal Services Authority (NAlSA) is to organise National lok Adalat on November 23, the day it observes as NAlSA day. Day-long lok Adalat will be organised at all the courts — right from the Apex court to the district courts in the Country where all sorts of cases will be taken up and tried to be settled and disposed of.
“In Jharkhand also, we will be organising lok adalat at the High Court level as well as 22 district courts and 4 other sub-divisional courts of the State,” said JHAlSA Member Secretary SK Dubey. According to Dubey lok Adalat has proved to be an efficient way of disposing the cases, which have been pending for years in different courts where both the parties are made to sit across the table and a mutual way out is tried to be found out by the mediating authority.
The idea behind this National lok Adalat is people should not get into unnecessary litigation this lok Adalat provides a platform to them, added Dubey. A scrutiny is being done at the various levels so that maximum number of cases is disposed of on November 23. A meeting was recently held under the acting Chief Justice DN Patel with Chief Secretary RS Sharma and other concerned departmental heads in this regard.
“We want to make it as litigation free society as it is the right of a citizen and they must get their rights,” said Dubey. All efforts will be made to dispose of maximum number of cases in this lok Adalat, he added. In this lok Adalat, some untouched fields are also being taken up this time like --- pre-litigation cases of public utility services from insurance and banking and telecom and other sectors, he said.
As it saves time, money and energy of both the parties, lok Adalat has been proved to be a cheap and immediate resort for the litigants. It also decreases the work load of the courts as cases here are disposed of in a single day. According to an official estimate, over 1.37 lakh cases have been disposed of through lok Adalats in the state.
Matters related to salary, retieral benefits, pension, gratuity, labour disputes, land acquisition cases up to the value of Rs 5 lakh, matrimonial disputes, civil contempt, EPF as well as accidental claims and other several cases will be taken up in this lok Adalat. Notices are being issued to the concerned departments to come and settle the case.
