National Federation of Indian Railway Men demand security and adequate medical facilities for the railway personnel here. NFIRM held an impressive show on Thursday in Barwadeeh's Baba Chowk.
NFIRM officials drawn from Hajipur and Moghulsarai to Daltonganj attended this show of solidarity on issues most crucial o the railway work force said sources. The NFIRM talked about the seventh pay commission's finer points and other issues related to their professions.
Speaking to the Pioneer the working president of NFIRM B M Pandey special TTE Daltonganj and general secretary S K Paswan said in one voice that medical facilities here for the railway personnel are most negligible. The two said railway personnel do suffer from cardiac problem, diabeties problem but for these the sufferers are to manage themselves on their own.
B M Pandey Spl TTE said ' Can one imagine there is just one railway doctor catering to the medical need of 3,000 work force including the families hereIJ''Pandey said railway work force here are to fend for themselves for want of specialized treatment. He said pregnant women be they wives or daughters or daughters in law of railway personnel here are to seek medical assistance from outside since there is no lady doctor here in the Barwadeeh based railway hospital.
He said as for the kids/infants here is no specialized doctor. Barwadeeh railway hospital is the lone one between latehar railway junction and Garhwa railway junction.
NFIRM's conference in Barwadeeh highlighted this issue much to the concern of one and all said sources.From Hajpur came two officials of NFIRM P S Chaturvedi ( general secretary) and Navin Kumar Singh ( joint secretary)
From Moghulsarai came M K Singh.Former minister K N Tripathy of Jharkhand graced the conference along with latehar Congress chief l M N Shahdeo.
Sources said NFIRM is deeply concerned with the attacks on the railway personnel here in this ECR.
Pandey said one goods train guard was beaten to death while one fitter was hammered to death both on duty here in this year recently.He said the list of bid on the lives of the engine drivers, guards, cabin men ,station masters is pretty long.
The working president of NFIRM here further said our railway personnel work amid an environment of fear and insecurity but like railway work force of NE railways who get special fiscal cover for working in difficult and dangerous zone here our work force are out of this fiscal cover when the dangers to lives are very enormous.
The Thursday show of NFIRM has brought the railway men on a solid platform to raise their voices for legitimate demands said sources.
