Narayana, Singhal groups launch Oncology Clinic

Published on:

In its continued efforts to advance comprehensive and robust oncology care and create awareness about cancer among the people of Ranchi and its adjoining areas, Narayana Superspeciality Hospital, Howrah launched its first and one of its kind ‘Oncology Clinic’ in Ranchi. With the mission to deliver high quality and affordable healthcare services and provide exclusive oncology services in Ranchi, the Oncology Clinic will guide cancer affected patients to receive appropriate treatment. The services will be provided at Singhal Surgical Hospital, Piska More Ranchi.

The event also focused at creating awareness about different types of cancers, highlighting the role and importance of diagnosis, information and preventive aspects of oncology.

The interaction highlighted that cancer, which is one of the most common diseases in Jharkhand, is on alarming rise due to lack of awareness which is the main reason for the increase of cancer patients in Jharkhand.

Dr. Sayan Das, Consultant Clinical Oncology, Narayana Superspeciality Hospital, Howrah said “There’s a cause of concern for Jharkhand as the number of cancer patients are rising over the years.

Mouth and lung cancer tops among men and uterine cervix and breast cancer amongst women in the state. It is mainly because of the growing pollution level due to the diesel-run autos, mines releasing coal dust and industrial smoke, ever-growing rate of tobacco consumption. This is also because of lack of knowledge, awareness and delayed diagnosis.”

Dr. Ajay Kumar, Consultant Surgical Oncology, Singhal Surgical Hospital, Ranchi said “Early recognizing the symptoms by the patients and their families and spreading awareness can help reduce the mortality rate.

The state lacks awareness undoubtedly; in fact the entire country lacks it. Mostly people believe cancer only occurs to people who drink and smoke and after the detection, try to outcast the patient and their family.

There are multiple causes for the disease and can be treated in a much better way if detected early. Women suffering from breast and cervical cancer usually shy away from receiving treatment for the disease. Hence, the mortality rate has not reduced in the recent years.”

Narayana Superspeciality Hospital, Howrah offers organ-specific comprehensive cancer care covering medical, radiation and surgical oncology. The hospital also offers tertiary care services in over 44 specialties, which includes Cardiac Sciences, Neurosciences, Gynaecology, Orthopaedics, Urology as well as Medical and Surgical Gastroenterology.
