Inspired by the grand kite festival organised annually at Gujarat to mark the pious ‘Makarsankranti’, the much awaited Namo Kite Festival will be held at Morhabadi Ground today.

The annual event is organised here in the State Capital under the aegis of ‘Namo Mantra’ – the nodal organisation.

The event that had received a tremendous response of the public is being organised since 2013 and feature the kite bearing pictures of PM Modi as a special attraction.

“This is the seventh edition of ‘Namo Patang Utsav’. Since 2015, the event is being organised here at Morhabadi Ground. Every year, the response of the city residents has been encouraging.

The main reason behind organising this event is to promote Indian culture among the young generation,” said Chief of the organising committee and Jharkhand State Khadi Board, Chairperson – Sanjay Seth.

Seth further added that besides the kite flying event, the managing committee will also organise few cultural events. “The event will begin around 1 PM. We have kites with photographs of the PM as well as Chief Minister, Raghubar Das. This year again, the event will feature around 40,000 kites bearing the PM’s photographs and some quotes, while around 10,000 would carry pictures of the CM,” Seth said.
