NaMo jackets in vogue this R-Day

Published on:

On this Republic Day function here in Daltonganj, many would be seen donning Modi jacket and Gandhi topi! Rakesh Kumar a student said, “I like our PM Narendra Modi wearing ‘Bandi’. So, I will also wear it. I have bought it for Rs350.” Sources reminded that last year when Arvind Kejriwal was flying high in Delhi, many here had donned AAP topi at that time.

However, the excitement evaporated once Kejriwal left the Chief Ministership of Delhi midway. The AAP topi went out of sight here. Now, no body likes to wear it. However, the latest trend here is of Modi’s jacket with buttons upto the neck. The preference is to woolen jacket and topi as it is biting cold here in Daltonganj and silk is not a perfect option to wear at this point of time. Most of the people prefer ‘Khadi’.

Sources said many institutions have advanced the flag hoisting time here because of the cold. The Nilamber Pitamber University has fixed 9.15 am for the flag hoisting ceremony. The sources said the colleges and postgraduate departments under it are equally keeping in mind the biting cold for the Tricolour hoisting timing.

Sources futher said there has been a significant increase in the girls/ladies turnout for participating in the R-Day function here which was quite poor some five or six years back. Young girls with tricolour paint on their faces add to the grace and beauty of the function. The best thing is that people now do not lend any ear to the CPI Maoist’s call of R-Day as even in the remote areas the R-Day and I-Day celebrations go on with small festivity.
