As the festival of Durga Puja will begin on October 13, the preparation for the auspicious occasion is in full swing in the State capital. The construction of pandals has started in many areas.
Artisans from Kolkata and adjoining parts have arrived in the city three months back and have started giving artistic touch to the puja pandals and idols.
One of the most attractive puja pandal is put up by the RR Sporting club members in the city and once again is ready to enthrall the denizens with its unique presentation which involves both interior and exterior designs of puja pandal along with the special light effects.
Citing details about this year’s theme RR Sporting club puja committee president, Rahul Yadav asserted, “This year our total budget is Rs35 lakh and artists are preparing model of Sikkim Namchi Chaar Dhaam temple. The most attractive feature this year will be the 20 feet Durga idol which is made up of brass metal and it is first of its kind in Jharkhand.”
“Moreover people would also see the 50 feet statue of lord Shiva which will be constructed on top of the pandal and would be visible from all the four directions. The height of the puja pandal is approximately 110 feet this time. For this season again we are going to decorate the interiors with specific theme,” Yadav further said.
On the issue of security as the RR Sporting puja pandal is located in one of the busiest street of the city, Yadav informed, “like other years we have security from the district administration and have also hired our own volunteers to help the public. 30 women and 30 men volunteers will always be present for any assistance at the pandal. Moreover CCTVs cameras will be installed to monitor the entire 10 days programme.”
This year also artists from Haldia district of West Bengal have come to prepare the pandal for the propitious occasion. An artist who was busy arranging the bamboo sticks and few decorative items at RR Sporting club pandal said, “Every year we come to Ranchi with special themes this year too we have something special for the Ranchiites and as many as 120 artists are working vigorously to complete the pandal before the deadline. Apart from idol and pandal decoration, this year the lighting effects will mesmerize the visitors.”
The RR Sporting club puja committee is organising and preparing puja pandal since 1982.
Presently, 60 members from various fields are associated with the committee.
