Supreme Court Judge and Executive Chairman of National legal Services Authority (NAlSA) Justice TS Thakur, during the concluding session of 13th All India Meet of State legal Services Authority on Sunday, said that the authority is fully committed towards the cause of ensuring justice to the weaker and economically backward sections of the society.

Justice Thakur also stressed on bringing in more and more non-governmental organisations to contribute to the cause after developing an accreditation system to identify such NGOs.

“Our motive is to make justice reach out to the poorest of the poor and women of the society as well, who have been deprived of it for so many years,” Thakur added.  Women, according to Justice Thakur, had been the most vulnerable section and hence the system exploits them which must be put to an end, he added.

“Tribal women trafficked to the other places are left on the mercy of those who take them away promising better job options; we need to make justice accessible to all in reality,” he said. According to Justice Thakur, over 46 crore people have been working in the unorganized sector as labourers and domestic helps across the Country, he said.

“I want to assure you that we are definitely proceeding towards it a bit slowly but in a methodical way as various programmes are being carried out under the programe,” he said.

“No doubts could be raised regarding justice and commitment towards the organizational manner against the people involved for the cause,” he added. A close vigil is being kept on the activities of the authority both at the central as well as the state level, he said.

A ‘Presentation Programme on the Middle Income Group Scheme’ was also organized during the concluding session where organizations working for the cause were given a chance to showcase the work done by them. They explained what exactly was being done to facilitate women making justice accessible to them.

People, according to those organizations, are being empowered to demand justice, as a right, not as a charity. The organizations also depicted what needs to be done further to achieve the goal of ensuring justice accessible to all.

A short film directed by Madhvi Bhatt, the daughter of Justice PP Bhatt, Judge of Jharkhand High Court on the topic ‘The Forgotten Children’ with and appeal to stop child labour was appreciated by all present during the programme.

Other dignitaries who were also present during the programme were Supreme Court Judge Justice Anil R Dave, Chief Justice Virender Singh of Jharkhand High Court, Justice DN Patel and Justice RR Prasad of Jharkhand High Court along with others.
