NAFU triggers' send Pvt Health service providers under Ayushman into panic

Published on:

NAFU (national anti-fraud unit) of the ministry of health and family welfare government of India has issued 'triggers' in regard to inconsistencies in medical treatment provided to Ayushman card beneficiaries in Palamu.

The automated triggers flag potential suspicious transactions related to Ayushman cards.

It points out inconsistencies, data mismatch, duplication of billing, exaggerated field activity, mismatch in photos of the Ayushman card beneficiary and other fraudulent practices in the free 5 lakh worth treatment of Ayushmann card holders.

District programme co-ordinator of the Ayushmann Bharat Yojna (shortened form) Dr Premchand said "A private eye hospital here made a huge bulk of lens with a barcode."

"The lens with the same lone barcode were given to Ayushman card beneficiaries. NAFU detected it. It objected to the use of the same lone barcode for each and every Ayushman card beneficiary," reiterated the district programme co-ordinator Dr Premchand.

"The best course of the said private eye hospital was that it should have generated invoices for its Ayushman card beneficiaries which it didn't do," added Premchand.

Now this private eye hospital is 'disabled' for providig free eye treatment to the Ayushman card beneficiaries.

Empanelled private health service providers under the Ayushman Bharat Yojna are to have a minimum of 3 duty doctors@ 8 hours duty each.

Most of such empanelled private health service providers make do with just one duty doctor or no duty doctor.NAFU objects to it. It raises flag for its rectification.

Civil surgeon Palamu Dr Anil Kumar said "We keep monitoring such empanelled private health service providers under the Ayushman Bharat Yojna. But some are real no do gooder. NAFU will teach such defiants."

Bills are fudged in Ayushman card treatment. Even identical and similar photos of two OTs ( operation theatres) are presented for one Ayushman card beneficiary.

NAFU issued a trigger in a case here where an Ayushman card beneficiary who was discharged from one empanelled private health service provider was shown admitted to another empanelled private health service provider the very next day of his discharge and that too for the same ailment and for almost the same period that he had spent in his previous stay in the private health service provider.

Bogus registration, lack of mobile number validation, multiple beneficiaries linked to the same Aadhaar card and phone numbers are some of the common frauds discovered by the NAFU.

There are around a dozen empanelled private health service providers under this Yojna whose credibility can be vouched in Palamu.
