BJP national president Jagat Prakash Nadda on Sunday said that tribals were the first to raise voice against British Empire, much before Gandhiji raised the voice after returning from foreign. Nadda who was in State Capital addressing Birsa Vishwas rally organized by State party unit at historic Morhabadi ground said that the freedom struggle movement of 1855 throws the light how tribal freedom fighters—Tilka Manjhi, Birsa Munda , Jatra Tana Bhagat raised their voice against oppressing regime of Britishers.
After highlighting the contribution of tribal icons in country freedom struggle , the BJP president also talked about the interests of tribal society. Nadda talked about how the Modi government has worked for interest of tribal society, at the same time state government in the state has only duped and looted the innocent tribals of Jharkhand.
He said, “Today corruption and commission have become synonymous’ with present government. We are for Sewa, while the JMM/Congress alliance government is for eating Mewa. Corruption has increased in all departments.” The BJP leader also raised the suspended IAS officer Pooja Singhal case putting the Chief Minister office in dock. He also raised the issue of atrocities against tribal going up including highlighting Rupa Tirkey’s murder case.
Nadda further questioned if it is possible in any state that a Chief Minister himself takes the mines for themselves while being a Minister of Mines.
Targeting the Congress party the BJP president said that in the political history of 70 years, Congress leaders have only duped and looted tribal society. They can only tell how they have looted the tribals.
He said that BJP always talked about interest of tribal society as during the tenure of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, a separate ministry was set up for tribals. Prior to that, tribal interests were given importance even during the Jan Sangh era. Kariya Munda, the leader of that era, is an example of this.
The rally which saw the participation of senior tribal leaders from across the state with these tribal leaders targeting the JMM/Congress government. Union Minister Arjun Munda, on the occasion, said that the BJP’s policy of ‘Service’ and ‘Good Governance’ is dedicated to the ‘poor’. The Modi government is working 24 hours to give an identity to the tribal society. “In this episode, the decision of the Modi government to celebrate ‘Adivasi Pride Day’ is historic,” Munda added. Munda further said that the launch of ‘Adi Adarsh Gram’ is a big effort to maintain the identity of the people of the tribal society.
Former Chief Minister Raghuvar Das said that when the current National President of BJP was the Health Minister, he did the work of providing five medical colleges for the tribal society of Jharkhand. These colleges have been opened in Dumka, Garhwa, and Palamu and work is going on in Chaibasa and Koderma. He further said that regional parties have used tribal society as a vote bank.
